The Facebook Whistleblower

Thoughts from our Associate Director Peter Evans on the Facebook Whistleblower

Wow......... seeing the reactions to the recent Facebook Whistleblower, revealing herself before she takes her story to the US senate made me worry about our future.

Of course this is not the first time Facebook and it's Companies have been called into question, I remember hearing the account from Sophie Zhang, a former Data Analyst.

It got me thinking............FB users aren't consumers - they're the product being bought and sold

Let's not forget, Facebook is only 17 years old it s has 2.8 billion users - that is 60% of all internet connected people on earth

A quote from Frances Haugen herself, sums up the recent problems we have been having with SM over the last few years especially; The social network is 'tearing our societies apart'.

Facebook stock nosedive costs Zuckerberg $6bn as whistleblower interview and service outage rattle investors, with the share price falling 4.9 per cent – the worst decline since the five per cent drop recorded on 9 November 2020.

I mean, Facebook having to post on Twitter had to be a kick in the tweets. In all seriousness, I hope there is a positive reaction from these revelations. These powerhouses on Social Media, they need and must do more.
