So, who is Karen?
Friendly, honest and passionate, with an un-healthy dependency on coffee, I am a Senior Rec-to-Rec Recruiter with experience across a number of sectors. I am a mum to two brilliant teenagers who both keep me on my toes! In my spare time (which is not a lot with two teenagers to be honest!) when I am not on taxi duties, or acting as amateur roadie for my sons’ gigs, I enjoy drawing, reading, kitchen discos and music.
I started my recruitment career in a commercial recruitment office and my love for the industry grew from there, including working across commercial, industrial, education, scientific, engineering, rec to rec, civil and building services sectors. 16 years’ experience later (with a stint in the middle as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant while my children were small) and I still get a huge buzz from supporting and nurturing my clients, and finding my candidates brilliant opportunities.
I pride myself on my relationship building skills with both clients and candidates, getting to know what each party wants and needs, delving into the nitty gritty and consulting to provide honest and open feedback and advice to both parties. Honesty and integrity are key to my relationships along with finding the right solutions for clients and candidates alike.
Fun Facts about me:
- I have exhibited and sold artwork, being creative is a huge part of my life. I mainly draw and take photoe, but my dream is to have my own ceramics studio with a kiln and wheel.
- My music tastes are eclectic, anything from Jamie Cullum to Metallica to Tori Amos and Bullet for my Valentine.
- I am a Harry Potter fan. While I was a Teaching Assistant, I set up a lunchtime club for fellow fans; we made potions, our own patronus and generally got up to mischief.
- I love anything mechanical. I have changed engines in original Minis and Beetles.
- Guiness, a pint of bitter or a whickey are my topples - wine also works!
If you are a Hampshire or Dorset Recruiter or client, give me a call or drop me a message, I will look after you well!
