So, who is Emma?
Raised on a farm, my life has always been a mix of hard work, adventure, and a little bit of noise. And a career spanning more than 25 years in recruitment pretty much proves that.
My route into recruitment wasn't exactly conventional. Straight from school, I headed off to London College of Fashion to study hair and beauty. But But somewhere between the starling and the career plans, recruitment found me and never let go. I started my recruitment career in the industry.
I started my recruitment career in industrial recruitment before moving into commercial and office support. From there, I found myself managing the recruitment of Virgin Atlantic Cabin Crew, which certianly not a career move I could have predicted. A move to the Isle of Man opened the door to fiduciary and professional services recruitment, helping place talent across trust, corporate and wealth management sectors.
I saw an opportunity and went on to buy the recruitment company I was working for, spending the next twenty years growing and developing the business. During During that time, I recruited across a wide range of sectors, including gaming technology, commercial professional services, finance, customer service, and executive appointments. I have worked in temporary, permanent, and contract recruitment. This I've experienced most of the challenges, opportunities, and market changes the industry can throw at you.
Alongside recruitment, I also designed and delivered training programs covering all aspects of working within gaming companies. One of those Programmes were even adopted as part of a university module. Something I'm still incredibly proud of.
The reason I love Rec2Rec recruitment is simple. I've sat on the other side of the desk. I've built desks from scratch, won new business managed teams, trained recruiters, navigated difficult markets, and celebrated the highs that came with success. I understand what recruiters are looking for. Because I've lived it myself, having worked across so many sectors and disciplines. I can genuinely relate to recruiters I speak to every day, whether you are in industrial, commercial finance, technology, education, healthcare or professional services recruitment. I understand the pressures, the opportunities, and what makes a role worth moving for.
Recruitment has always been about people, relationships, and finding the right fit. Helping recruiters find environments where they can generally thrive. It remains one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
Outside of work. Life is usually centred around family, a cricket mad sum and keeping It remains one of the most rewarding parts of what I do, outside of work. Life is usually centered around family, a cricket mad son, and keeping up with Cooper the Kane Corso, who is firmly convinced he's the real boss of the household.
While my roots are definitely in the countryside, I've always enjoyed a bit of pace and noise. Rock music played properly loud. The atmosphere of the Isle of Man TT. Brunch menu is all high on my list. Los Angeles remains my favourite place I visited. There will always be a soft spot for life by the sea after spending so many years on the island.
You'll often find me attempting to be disciplined in the gym, with the emphasis verymuch on attempting. I'm completely comforatable being a terrible cook, remain convinced I can dance despite evidence to the contrary, and firmly believe life is far too short not to have a laugh!
Country roots, recruitment through and through, rock music in the background, and just enough chaos to keep life interesting.
If you are a Kent or Essex based recruiter or client, give me a call or drop me a message, I will look after you well!
